The Knysna Heads
Thank you for your interest. As a keen birdwatcher and nature lover you are no doubt aware that South Africa offers some of the finest bird watching in the world. With its unspoilt land it is fast becoming one of the most popular holiday destinations for bird and nature lovers.
It is with great pleasure that we offer you our Safari in the Cape's beautiful Garden Route and the spectacular Karoo. Our meticulously planned itinerary offers you an impressive list of over 350 species of birds (110 endemics or near endemics) spectacular landscapes, big game - all in a safe, sparsely populated and malaria free area.
Our tours are small and personal - maximum of 6 people with two guides on each trip. Our guides have over 20 years birding experience and are long standing members of Bird Life South Africa. They are accredited South African Tour Guide leaders and have a fund of knowledge relating to the local habitat, Flora and Fauna.
Because many of our travelers to South Africa wish to stay on to see more of the country and therefore require a greater flexibility with regard to travel arrangements, we offer tours that exclude airfares. There are so many excellent flight options available that it is also more cost effective for participants to do their own bookings. For your information we have listed our recommendations for flight times. We can also offer extensions to this tour to other areas - if required.
Our tour commences and ends at George airport ( 1 hours flying time from Cape Town) we highly recommend you spend a few days sightseeing in Cape Town with its Waterfront, Table Mountain and of course the famous wine estates.
Those who book for the tour will also be sent a Tour Information Bulletin - covering a range of topics from health, climate, clothing and currency.
A field guide of South African Birds will be given to each participant at the start of the tour.
African Bird Safari's aim is to give their participants every opportunity to see as many birds of the area as possible in a relaxed congenial and informal atmosphere. We love our birding and want to share our wonderful country and its birds with you.
We look forward to being of service to you.
